The Rainbow Path
“Where did you find the music for the Beltane ritual?”
“The Rainbow Path? Lupe and Ginny went to Michigan and saw a performance of the Greenwood on the acoustic stage. Then we bought the record, and then many, many cassettes and wore them out. Finally we got a CD and burned copies until we could upload it to library.”
“How did you come to use it for the Beltane ritual?”
“The Beltane ritual grew out of the birthday massages.”
“I love the birthday massage.”
“Yes, me too. So just like now, when we give a birthday massage, we never played music, we sing to the birthday girl. When we decided to use group massage in a Beltane ritual, and someone—probably Gloria—wanted the Fire Women to have a guided trance. So it was probably her idea to combine The Rainbow Path with a group massage.”
”I cried when Kay died. She was so young and had so much more to do and to give to us. I heard she felt sick and laid down, and died of a heart attack that she didn’t know she was having.
“So many women don’t know the symptoms of a women’s heart attack.”
“Didn’t Libana sing the drone tones on The Rainbow Path?”
“They did. I love their music too. They celebrated a 40th Anniversary a while back.”
